Humaidan: The success of the GCC labour market lies in the exchange of successful experiences

His Excellency Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, met with Dr. Amer bin Mohammed Al Hajri, Director General of the Executive Bureau of the Labour and Social Affairs Ministers Council, at his office. During the meeting, they discussed a number of topics that will form the agenda of the 9th meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Labour of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf to be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain this year. They also discussed the development of joint Gulf programs in the field of labour and the development of national human resources. On the same note, Humaidan stressed the importance of strengthening joint Gulf action, praising in this context the vital role played by the Executive Bureau in implementing programs that are in the interest of strengthening Gulf action. The minister also pointed to the importance of exchanging successful experiences in the Gulf labour markets, especially in the field of employing and qualifying citizens and creating promising opportunities in various productive sectors. In turn, Al-Hajri appreciated the support received by the office from the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, pointing out that this support reflects the Kingdom's continuous interest and keenness to advance the GCC march and the success of the joint Gulf action.
Midday Work Ban Begins Saturday 1st July

The Kingdom of Bahrain will begin tomorrow, Saturday (July 1), the application of Resolution No. (3) of 2013 regarding the prohibition of noon work in open places between 12 noon and 4 pm during the months of July and August. The decision aims to strengthen the protection of workers from occupational diseases and injuries at a time when the country is witnessing high temperatures and increased humidity. According to plan, the Ministry of Labour has completed all its preparations to supervise the implementation of the decision. On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, indicated the importance of applying the principles and requirements of occupational safety to enhance a productive, safe and work-free work environment. He also pointed out that the ministry's occupational safety inspection teams will embark on their field monitoring campaign with the implementation of the decision, to ensure that establishments comply with it. The minister called on employers to continue their annual commitment to implement the decision in order to preserve the safety and health of workers and to take all regulatory measures, including benefiting from the rescheduling of working hours in a way that does not affect the progress of their work, pointing to the humanitarian and economic dimensions of the decision. The ministerial decision on the prohibition of noon work stipulates that "anyone who violates the provisions of this decision shall be punished by the penalties stipulated in Article (192) of the Labour Law in the Private Sector promulgated by Law No. (36) of 2012, which stipulates that anyone who violates any of the provisions of Chapter (15) and the decisions issued in implementation thereof shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months and a fine of not less than BD500 and not more than BD1000, or one of these two penalties. "
Humaidan chairs LMRA board’s meeting

The Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) held its eighth meeting of the fourth session under the chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, on Sunday, in the presence of members of the Board of Directors and H.E. Mrs. Noof Abdulrahman Jamsheer, CEO of the Authority. In a statement, Humaidan expressed continued support for efforts to develop the work environment in the Kingdom of Bahrain in order to enhance the efficiency, productivity and stability of the labour market and preserve the rights of all labour parties in order to serve the development and economic plans. Accordingly, His Excellency attached special importance to the economic recovery plan and the national labor market plan, in line with the government's program and directions to enhance the economic and investment attractiveness in the country. The Labour Minister explained that the efforts made by the Authority to maintain a labour market, which enjoys high productivity and stability, have earned it praise and attention by international and UN organizations. This confidence has given Bahrain a distinguished global position, which has made it a model in respecting human rights and applying best practices. In this context, the board members noted Bahrain's distinctive achievement of the first category, as stated in the report of the United States Department of State on the classification of countries in the field of combating trafficking in persons for the sixth consecutive year. The board expressed its appreciation for the joint efforts and cooperation with the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, as well as various relevant government agencies. At the same time, the board called for following up on the recommendations of the report to build on the achievements and address the shortcomings, especially since the report is considered the highest international reference in this field. For her part, Mrs. Jamsheer presented a detailed report highlighting the efforts and programs of the LMRA and the results achieved during the first quarter of this year. She also pointed out the important projects that are being implemented and completed during the current year, most notably the developments in the implementation of the Wages Protection System and the Labour Registration System. The board praised the results achieved, and the efforts exerted to support the stability and balance of the labour market, and to find solutions that meet the needs of the national economy and give it flexibility that enhances its competitiveness and ability to adapt to various circumstances and fluctuations, through the implementation of projects and procedures regulating the market. The LMRA’s board of directors also noted the implementation of the relevant decisions to develop and improve the productive and sound work environment at the level of international and global indicators, and to improve services directed to citizens, employers and expatriate workers.
Minister of Labour: Noontime work decision starts in July

The Ministry of Labour announced the entry into force of Ministerial Resolution No. (3) of 2013, regarding the prohibition of working under direct sunlight and open places with high temperatures during the afternoon from 12 noon to 4 pm of July and August of each year. The ban will start on Saturday, July 1, 2023, and aims to protect workers and ensure their safety from the dangers of heat stress, sunstroke and various summer diseases and reduce occupational accidents, during this particular period when average temperatures and humidity levels are very high. The Ministry of Labour has embarked on a proactive campaign aimed at raising awareness among employers and workers to demonstrate the importance of adhering to the decision. The facilities are then provided with guidance bulletins, in addition to preparing brochures and advertisements in multiple languages that include instructions and information on the impact of continuous exposure to high temperatures on the health and safety of workers during the exercise of job duties. The campaign also includes providing workshops for occupational safety supervisors in private sector establishments to inform them of the latest developments and requirements for the necessary requirements to prevent summer diseases and occupational accidents at work sites. In a statement on this occasion, the Minister of Labour said that the commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain to implement this decision annually reflects the importance it attaches to human rights principles, especially the right of workers to provide a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with international labour standards. He pointed out that the implementation of the noon work ban during the past years contributed to reducing the risks of work injuries, stressing the importance of establishments strengthening their efforts in educating workers about summer diseases and ways to prevent them, indicating the risks resulting from heat stress due to their exposure to direct sunlight. In this context, Humaidan emphasised the necessity to provide comprehensive health care and first aid and find appropriate technical solutions that would reduce workers' exposure to temperatures and humidity. Humaidan also stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Labour not to cause adverse affects on the completion of existing projects implemented by establishments on time. He pointed out that the decision is an incentive for more productivity, due to the cessation of workers from work during the hours of the ban, and compensated them by rescheduling working hours throughout the period of validity of the decision. The minister also noted the commitment of private sector establishments over the past years to implement the stated decision. Labour Minister inaugurated the 12th annual conference for the rehabilitation and development of leaders

H.E. Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, inaugurated on Wednesday the 12th annual conference for qualifying and developing leaders under the title "Think as a CEO", organised by Origin Group, during the period 21-22 June, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Banna, Chief Executive of the Group and a noticeable participation of good number of experts and specialists in human resource development from inside and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain. The conference aims to develop national cadres in human resources development in light of the acceleration of technology and artificial intelligence. Moreover, it focused on the development of young leaders, which are the most important pillars of success and linking them to technology. In this regard, the conference reviews the most prominent leadership problems and difficult decision-making during crises and how to manage work teams to find appropriate solutions with a review of successful experiences in this context. In a statement on this occasion, Humaidan emphasised the importance of the theme of this year's conference, pointing out that the development of national competencies and upgrading them to leadership levels reflects positively on the sustainability of improving productivity levels in institutions, given that the qualified national leadership element represents real capital in development paths. The minister called attention to the successful experiences of institutions that relied on Bahraini competencies that progressed professionally to attain advanced leadership positions. For his part, Dr. Al Banna said that this conference comes to refine the behaviors and skills of young administrative leaders, especially from the future generation, who will become leaders and managers to lead companies, institutions and other entities in both, public and private sectors. Ministry of Labour and the Northern Governorate sponsor joint summer training program "Our Homeland & King Gather Us"

H.E. Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, and Mr. Ali bin Al Sheikh Abdulhussein Al Asfoor, Governor of the Northern Governorate, attended on Tuesday, part of the joint training program organised by the Northern Governorate within its summer program “Our Homeland and King Gather Us". The program included the participation of (40) female students from the Northern Governorate to introduce them to the requirements of future jobs, in the main hall of the Ministry's building. The Northern Governorate organises a diverse summer program annually, and this year the program focuses on innovative ideas aimed at enriching the awareness of the participants through the adoption of awareness programs in line with the needs of the labour market and academic outcomes. It also includes many lectures, workshops, field visits and other events targeting youth in the Northern Governorate. In a speech to the students participating in the program, Humaidan praised this event, which is harmonious with the objectives of the Ministry of Labour in enhancing career guidance for students of all academic levels. It also contributes to knowing and developing their tendencies and abilities to choose the best academic specialisations in preparation for joining the labour market. For his part, Al Asfoor praised the community partnership between the Northern Governorate and the Ministry of Labour and their continuous cooperation in supporting programs aimed at integrating citizens into the labor market. He indicated that this induction program enhances the culture of vocational guidance and introduces students to qualitative and non-traditional jobs, specifically in the technical and technological disciplines needed by the labour market.
Labour Minister briefed on NBK's endeavours to recruit citizens

In recognition of the establishments where the employment rates of nationals have increased, and in support of the initiatives and programs of the Ministry of Labour in the field of attracting and integrating Bahraini cadres, H.E. Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, visited the headquarters of the National Bank of Kuwait in the Kingdom of Bahrain, where the rate of Bahrainisation has reached 100%. During the visit, he met with Mr. Ali Yousef Fardan, the General Manager of NBK in addition to a number of NBK officials. Humaidan was briefed on the efforts to implement the bank’s plan to attract nationals in light of its confidence in these competencies and reliance on them in the implementation of all its operations. During the visit, NBK’s General Manager briefed HE the Minister on the Bank's initiatives and strategy to attract more qualified national human resources. Fardan also pointed out that last year, 13 Bahrainis were employed, bringing the total number of employees working in the bank's two branches in the Kingdom of Bahrain to 99 nationals in various departments, sections and banking and administrative operations. On this occasion, Humaidan pointed up the fact that the Bahraini cadres working in the financial and banking sector have proven their excellence and high efficiency, due to their professional capabilities, and they are present in all disciplines and various technical and leadership job grades thanks to their extensive and remarkable experience at the regional and international levels. For his part, Fardan reaffirmed that NBK as a banking and financial institution seeks to continue to implement this employment policy and rely on national competencies during the next phase and emphasize that the citizen is the first choice in the labour market. He pointed out that Bahraini cadres are characterised by their efficient performance and high productivity in various banking operations. In this context, he indicated that since its operation in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 1987, NBK has witnessed a growth thanks to the cohesion of the Bahraini economy and the investment environment that have been the stimulants for success. Among the most important of these successes is the government's interest in the banking and financial sector by providing support to its enterprises, qualified national resources and encouraging incentives such as wage support, as well as offering free specialised training opportunities for them. In this context, he praised the programs and initiatives launched and implemented by the Ministry of Labour in the fields of qualifying citizens and integrating them into the private sector. H.E. Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, met with the staff working in the various departments of NBK, and listened to many success stories, which reflect the bank’s strategy to support the ambition of Bahraini workers and their desire for excellence, professional and career advancement. Humaidan meets ILO’s Director-General and Labour Ministers in Geneva

On the sidelines of his participation in the 111th session of the ILO Conference, HE Minister of Labour Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan met with the Director-General of the ILO, Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo, where they discussed strengthening joint cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the ILO. During the meeting, Humaidan referred to Bahrain's latest labour achievements within the framework of its keenness to develop national systems and legislation in the labour market. He confirmed the Kingdom's continued efforts towards creating many initiatives that reflect its commitment to international labour standards. The minister also pointed to the Government of Bahrain's continuous endeavor to promote social dialogue between the three production parties (governments, employers and workers) as the main pillar for developing the relationship between the various stakeholders and ensuring the stability of the labour market. On the other hand, Humaidan referred to the initiatives and projects implemented by the Kingdom of Bahrain within the framework of caring for the rights of the workforce, ensuring equality between various categories of workers, as well as regulating labour relations, business development and productivity. HE the Minister of Labour also met with many ministers of labour, heads of delegations and heads of international and Arab organisations, to discuss ways to develop labour cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and friendly and brotherly countries and prospects for coordination and exchange of successful experiences and expertise. During the conference, several coordination meetings were held at various levels between the delegations representing the participating GCC countries with the purpose to coordinate and consult on the issues and topics presented to the conference. In these meetings, Humaidan reviewed the most prominent features of Bahrain's experience in regulating the labour market, and its efforts in implementing many initiatives to recruit and qualify nationals and integrate them into the private sector. Whilst taking in account the initiatives taken by the Kingdom in strengthening social protection through the unemployment insurance system, as well as, in promoting equality in the labour market and its actions in the area of combating discrimination and achieving job stability. His Excellency Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, also met with Director-General of the Arab Labor Organization, Mr. Fayez Ali Al-Mutairi, and discussed with him ways to enhance the role of the organisation in following up on labour and production issues in the Arab countries in accordance with the standards and agreements issued by the ALO.
Minister of Labour delivers Bahrain’s speech before the ILO Conference

HE Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), stressed that social justice, improving the standard of living and promoting social dialogue are an integral part of the reform project launched by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and under the close follow-up of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. In addition to the lofty principles of social justice and the achievement of the highest levels of social solidarity for citizens contained in the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bahrain. This came in a speech delivered by the Kingdom of Bahrain by HE the Minister of Labour before the 111th session of the International Labour Conference, held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 4 to 16 June 2023. In translation of these lofty principles of social justice, Humaidan pointed out that the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain is implementing a series of well-studied policies and programs directed in particular to the lowest income groups and the most in need of support, most notably the unemployment insurance system, the wage support and improvement program, the subsidy of goods and services, and financial support for needy groups, which are initiatives aimed at providing an integrated system of social protection in the Kingdom. In his speech, Humaidan stressed that Bahrain is proud of its achievements in promoting social protection and achieving its fair contents, as well as its comprehensive initiatives to combat discrimination in employment, and combat forced labour and human trafficking. The Kingdom is also proud of its experience in promoting trade union freedoms and the advanced levels of cooperation achieved between the social partners in accordance with the principles of constructive dialogue aimed at protecting workers' rights and gains in a manner that does not prejudice the interests of employers. In this context, HE the Minister of Labour pointed out that the results achieved in facing the effects of the Corona pandemic on the labour market in Bahrain are the best evidence of this success. He accentuated that the government worked alongside workers and employers through continuous tripartite coordination in implementing health, financial and social support initiatives to address the negative repercussions of the pandemic at the social and economic levels. The Kingdom has provided a model to be followed in the field of labour market stability and unemployment rates and maintaining a productive labour force away from layoffs and job losses during difficult exceptional circumstances, as well as working to attract more investments and projects for the success and sustainability of development plans. During his speech, HE Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan praised the report of Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organization, as it addresses a very important topic at this particular time, namely social justice. This report comes in light of what many countries have made in the field of human development and the preservation of human rights through the promotion of the human and practical dimensions of social justice. Among the most important of these rights are the promotion of equal opportunities among the various segments of society and the equitable distribution of income, as well as the strengthening of the education, health care and social security systems.
Minister of Labour heads Bahrain's delegation to the International Labour Conference in Geneva

His Excellency Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the 111th session of the International Labour Conference, which will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 4 to 16 June 2023. The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain includes representatives of the government, employers (Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, headed by Mr. Sameer Abdulla Nass, Chairman of the Chamber), as well as workers (General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions, headed by Mr. Abdul Qader Abdul Karim Al Shehabi, Secretary-General, and the Bahrain Free Trade Union Federation (Al Hurr), headed by Mr. Yaqoob Yousef Mohammed, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Federation). The delegation is also joined by a number of members of the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the European Headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva. The International Labour Conference is one of the largest and most important conferences held annually, due to the wide participation of the leaders and three production parties in all countries of the world. The conference also includes specialised international organisations, in addition to its importance in discussing employment and social protection issues and promoting tripartite dialogue between the three production parties. The conference will discuss many important topics, foremost of which is, the discussion of the report of the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on "Advancing Social Justice". It addresses the repercussions of various factors and crises that affect labour markets negatively, pushing social justice and promoting decent work to the desired path. The conference also includes a number of other technical items, such as the adoption of an international recommendation to regulate apprenticeships, a report on social protection, a report on the just transition towards environmentally sustainable economies, as well as a report on the implementation of international labour conventions and recommendations. HE the Minister of Labour affirmed the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to participate in the sessions of the International Labour Conference, due to the Kingdom's prominent labour position thanks to the reform project laid down by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the efforts of the government, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in the field of reforming and developing the labour market system, especially in enacting advanced national labour legislation that are compatible with international labour standards, which made Bahrain a great example in this domain.
Minister of Labour inaugurates: "The Fifth Steel Conference for Health, Environment and Occupational Safety"

His Excellency Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, stressed that the rapid scientific and technological developments witnessed by the world necessitate partners in the field of occupational safety and health to exert more efforts to create and empower a generation of cadres and competencies in this field. Specifically, to make them able to keep pace with changes and develop the occupational and preventive safety and health system to maintain the safety of workers in a way that enhances productivity levels in various establishments. This came in a speech by the Minister of Labour during his opening and sponsorship, on Sunday, of the Fifth Steel Conference for Health, Environment and Occupational Safety, organised by Foulath Holding Group, during the period from 4-8 June, under the slogan "Safety is everyone's responsibility", at the company's headquarters in Hidd Industrial City and in the presence of Mr. Dilip George, CEO of Steel Group. A number of institutions concerned with occupational safety and health from inside and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain also participated in the event. In its fifth edition, the conference focuses on showcasing the best successful practices for building healthier and safer organisations, companies and work environments for employees, and discusses the best recent studies in this field by experts and specialised speakers. Humaidan pointed to the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in reducing occupational diseases and accidents, which led to a significant decrease in the number of occupational accidents that occurred during the period from 2016 to 2022 by 50%, as well as a decrease in the percentage of accidents in the construction sector during the period from 2027 to 2022 by 47%. In addition, Bahrain succeeded in implementing the noon-work ban during the months of July and August of each year, where the compliance rate exceeded 98%, which reflects the employers' awareness of the humanitarian implications of this decision and its importance in protecting workers and enhancing productivity. His Excellency the Minister of Labour appreciated the holding of this conference, as it addresses the most influential topics directly related to the foundations and principles of occupational safety and health and the strengthening of the preventive safety system. It is also an opportunity to highlight the most prominent challenges facing the implementation of occupational safety and health initiatives. For his part, the CEO of Bahrain Steel really admired the keenness of the Ministry of Labour to promote a culture of occupational safety and health in the work of establishments, which reflected positively on the safe work environment in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Humaidan Inaugurates “Career Fair 2023” at Bahrain Polytechnic

H.E. Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, inaugurated the "Career Fair 2023" held by Bahrain Polytechnic on Wednesday, at the university's headquarters in Isa Town, along with H.E. Mr. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the College. Also present at the opening, were HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, Prof. Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of the College and a number of invitees. The event aims to enhance career guidance for university students by reviewing the jobs available in the labour market. This exhibition also aims to introduce the market's needs for national competencies in various functional disciplines, especially in emerging and future professions in the technological sectors and the knowledge economy. In a speech during the ceremony, Humaidan stressed that the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain recognises the importance of the contributions of national and private universities and institutions concerned with education and training as a social partner within plans and programs to achieve alignment of education and training outputs geared to the needs of the labour market. He also highlighted its role in launching many pioneering national initiatives aimed at promoting the integration of graduates in the labour market and the optimal investment of national human resources. The minister pointed that these initiatives will be strengthened by launching the Employment Skills Platform at the national level, which serves the student, employer and all those concerned with the future of the labour market to know the renewed future professions, and work to encourage new school graduates to join the technical and vocational tracks. Humaidan noted the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Labour, Bahrain Polytechnic College, and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), which culminated in the signing of several memorandums of understanding to train and qualify graduates with specialisations that face difficulty in integrating into the labour market. All these arrangements are aimed at equipping graduates with the necessary skills that employers need, including design, digital transformation, human resources, information analysis and others. In this context, the Labour Minister praised the college's strategy in developing the education and training system, especially in the sectors of information and communication technology and artificial intelligence, which are among the promising sectors in the labour market. Opening of "Career Day" at Applied Science University

His Excellency Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the close follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has paid increasing attention to upgrading the joint relationship with the production parties, and enhancing cooperation and social dialogue between the three production parties (government, employers and workers), creating an encouraging climate for work and development in the work environment. The minister pointed out that Bahrain is continuing its efforts to enhance the tripartite dialogue between the social partners, in light of the presence of labour unions and trade union organisations that carry out their activities freely and independently, with the presence of a private sector full of business owners and establishments that continuously contribute to supporting the elements of the national economy and raising productivity. This came in the speech delivered by Humaidan, head of the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, before the 49th session of the Arab Labor Conference, which is held in the Arab Republic of Egypt from 22nd to 29th May 2023. His Excellency Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the opening of the 49th session of the Arab Labor Conference, which will be held in the Arab Republic of Egypt, from 22 to 29 May 2023 under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on Monday. The conference will be attended by a number of labour ministers in the Arab countries, heads of employers' organisations and representatives of trade unions and labour agencies, as well as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Arab Republic of Egypt H.E. Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal. The Bahraini delegation to the conference, along with the Ministry of Labour, includes the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, headed by Mr. Sameer Abdulla Nass. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour receives IMF delegation

H. H. Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, met with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which is visiting the Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by Ms. Asmaa El Ganaini, in the presence of a number of officials from the ministry. During the meeting, they reviewed Bahrain's experience in launching qualitative initiatives to maintain the stability and growth of the labour market in line with local needs and global changes, and the results achieved in this regard by increasing employment rates and maintaining unemployment within its safe limits. The visiting delegation was also briefed on programs to support women, promote the principles of competitiveness and equality in the labour market, discuss advanced legislation related to expatriate workers in accordance with international labor standards, and the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in combating all forms of discrimination and addressing any practices in the field of trafficking in persons. His Excellency Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, praised the efforts and initiatives of the Bahrain Society of Engineers, which are in the best interests of national cadres working in the field of engineering at various levels. The minister stressed the importance of the role of professional associations in providing professional opinion and constructive cooperation with the government in order to achieve comprehensive development efforts in the country. During his meeting with the President of the Bahrain Society of Engineers, Dr. Eng. His Excellency Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, inaugurated the “Careers Day” that was organised by the Arab Open University, on Wednesday, in the presence of Dr. Ghurmallah bin Abdulla Al-Ghamdi, President of the University in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the administrative and educational staff of the University. Also, amongst the attendees were a number of officials in the ministry, with the participation of many institutions and companies in the private sector. The “Careers Day” aims to introduce university students and graduates to the types of professional sectors that suit their specialisations, gain experience in how to apply for jobs, prepare CVs and train to pass job interviews. The “Careers Day” included accompanying activities, including awareness and guidance meetings for the target group, under the title "Be Ready - Qualification Skills" to introduce university students to the basic professional skills required in the labour market. Humaidan toured the booths of the participating parties in the exhibition and was briefed on the graduation projects of a number of university students and the mechanisms of their application and adoption by relevant companies and institutions. In a statement on this occasion, Humaidan praised the efforts taken by the Arab Open University to organise and hold this exhibition. His Excellency also pointed to the importance of this exhibition and everything that it adds to the national efforts in preparing university students to choose scientific tracks that contribute to accelerating their integration into the labour market.
