Labour Minister received newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Bahrain

H.E. Mr. Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, met with H.E. Mr. Vinod Kurian Jacob, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Kingdom of Bahrain, in his office at the ministry. During the meeting, they reviewed the historical relations between the two countries and ways to develop them to wider horizons and enhance cooperation that serves the interests of both countries. Humaidan warmly welcomed the Indian Ambassador and wished him success in performing his diplomatic duties in Bahrain. He also briefed him on the national efforts which are needed for upgrading the labour market, including the modernisation of labour legislation in line with international labour standards. The minister touched on the importance social protection for all categories of the workforce, praising in this context Indian workers and their participation in the development process witnessed by the Kingdom. For his part, the Indian ambassador praised the existing relations between the two friendly countries, praising the Kingdom's attractive environment for investment and a legislative structure that preserves the rights of workers within a safe and sound work environment. From this prospective, he noted the efforts of the Labour Ministry and the LMRA, stressing the keenness of his government to continue strengthening the existing cooperation with the Kingdom at the level of the labour market.
